1. No Purchase Necessary. Commencing on or about 12:01:01 AM (ET) November 1, 2007 to 11:59:59 PM (ET) May 31, 2008, there are two (2) ways to enter the Contest:
i.Visit the www.gaylea.com website and select the Gay Lea Shortbread Recipe Contest icon. Complete the Official Entry Form with your full name, address, city, province, postal code, daytime phone number and email address (if applicable). Follow the instructions on the website to type in an original, unpublished shortbread recipe including all ingredients and method of preparation. Confirm you have read, and agree to be bound, by the Official Contest Rules & Regulations. Select the “submit” icon and you will be automatically entered into the Contest. Recipe must include Gay Lea Butter. Recipe can be personally created by the entrant or may be an inherited family recipe and recipes must not be copied or modified from cookbooks, company websites or from any other source.
ii.On a plain piece of paper, include your full name, address, city, province, postal code, daytime phone number and email address (if applicable). Write your original, unpublished shortbread recipe including all ingredients and method of preparation and mail to: Gay Lea Shortbread Recipe Contest, Dept 1111, PO. Box 1275, Port Credit CSC, Mississauga, ON, L5G 4T4. Recipe must include Gay Lea Butter. Recipe can be personally created by the entrant or may be an inherited family recipe and recipes must not be copied or modified from cookbooks, company websites or from any other source.

Limit one (1) entry per person per day regardless of the method of entry. If more than one entry is received on any single day during the Contest Period, all entries from that entrant will be disqualified. Any duplicate recipes submitted during the Contest Period by an entrant will disqualify that entrant and all of his/her entries. If identical recipes are submitted by two (2) different entrants, only the first recipe submitted will be eligible for a grand prize. All entries must be received on or before 11:59:59 PM (ET) on May 31, 2008, (the “Contest Closing Date”).

2.ELIGIBILITY: To enter and be eligible to win, an entrant must be a legal resident of Ontario who has reached the age of majority, who is not a professional chef, professional baker or home economist and who is not an employee, representative or agent of the Sponsor, the independent contest organization, or their affiliated and related companies and, if applicable, their respective advertising or promotion agencies, dealers, and members of the immediate families of, or persons domiciled with, any of the above. In these Official Contest Rules & Regulations, “immediate family” means mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and/or legal or common-law spouse.

3.GRAND PRIZES: There are five (5) grand prizes available to be won, each consisting of one (1) getaway package to Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, ON. Each grand prize includes two (2) nights in a Junior Suite, which includes a kitchenette and living room with fireplace, for a family (with a maximum of two (2) adults and two (2) children), two (2) breakfasts and two (2) dinners for four (4) people, four (4) tickets to one of Deerhurst’s live stage shows, if available during the winner’s stay, one (1) day splash pass for four (4), which includes access to seasonal activities, including canoes, kayaks, water trampoline, windsurf boards and pedal boats in the summer and/or cross-country ski, snowshoe and skate rental in the winter. The total approximate retail value of each grand prize is $1,700 CDN. Getaway package must be completed by May 31, 2009. Booking is subject to availability of hotel accommodation, blackout periods, holiday periods and hotel restrictions and regulations. The winner and his/her travel guests are responsible for ground transfers to and from their residence to the Deerhurst Resort, and or other applicable taxes, travel and medical insurance, meals and beverages not specified above including but not limited to room service and mini-bar charges, tips and gratuities, hotel services (if any), merchandise and souvenirs, local and long distance telephone calls, items of a personal nature, additional spending money, incidentals and all other costs and expenses not specifically stated as included herein. No responsibility is assumed by the Sponsor for cancelled, delayed, suspended or rescheduled events after scheduling for any reason whatsoever beyond its control, or if other factors beyond their reasonable control prevent a grand prize or any part thereof from being fulfilled. In any such event, the grand prize winners will not be provided with a substitute prize or cash equivalent or any part thereof. Reservations of getaway packages will be arranged by the winners. Once made, reservations are final and may not be changed except in the Sponsor’s sole discretion. If a winner and/or his/her guest(s) are unable to attend during the designated dates booked, the grand prize may be forfeited. If any of the winner’s guest(s) is below the age of majority in his/her province of residence, he/she must provide the Sponsor with written consent to attend from his/her parent/legal guardian, who must also sign a declaration and release form (the “Release Form”) on the underage guest’s behalf. To the extent permitted by law, the Sponsor makes no express or implied warranties, representations or conditions of any kind with respect to the prize. Each grand prize must be accepted as awarded without substitution and is not transferable, or convertible to cash. The Sponsor reserves the right, in the event that a grand prize or any component of a grand prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute another prize of equal or greater value without liability.

4.SELECTION PROCESS: All complete entries received on or before the Contest Closing Date will be reviewed by the Sponsor’s selection committee (the “Selection Committee”), consisting of the Sponsor’s Marketing Department and appointed Home Economist or Chef. All complete entries will be reviewed by the Selection Committee on June 24, 2008, starting at 10:00 AM (ET) in Mississauga, ON. This process will continue until five (5) grand prize entrants are selected or there are no more prize entries satisfying the “Judging Criteria”, whichever comes first. Odds of winning depend on the application of the “Judging Criteria” to the entrant’s recipe and total number of eligible entries received by the Contest Closing Date. The “Judging Criteria” is left to the judgment and discretion of the Selection Committee and may include, but is not limited to: creativity, taste, ease of preparation and use of Gay Lea Butter in recipe. The mentioned “Judging Criteria” is subject to change at any time, should the Selection Committee deem it necessary. The selected entrants will be contacted by courier, mail or telephone within two (2) weeks of the completion of the selection process. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted by courier, mail or telephone within two (2) weeks of the completion of the selection process, or if a package sent via courier or mail is returned as undeliverable, said selected entrant will be disqualified and another entrant will be chosen until such time as contact is made by courier, mail or telephone with five (5) selected entrants or there are no more eligible entries, whichever comes first. The Sponsor will not be responsible for failed attempts to contact a selected entrant.

5.AWARDING OF PRIZES: Before being declared a winner, each selected entrant must first correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question posed by courier, mail or telephone. If a selected entrant’s answer to the mathematical skill-testing question is incorrect, he/she will be disqualified and another entrant will be selected until such time as there are five (5) confirmed winners or there are no more eligible entries, whichever comes first. Each selected entrant will also be required to sign a Release Form confirming compliance with the Official Contest Rules & Regulations, acceptance of the prize as awarded, without substitution, and releasing the Sponsor, the independent contest organization, and their affiliated and related companies, their dealers, and their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and, if applicable, their respective advertising or promotion agencies from any liability in connection with the prize or this Contest. The Release Form must be returned within the time period specified on the Release Form or the prize may be forfeited. The prize will be delivered to the address on the Release Form within four (4) to six (6) weeks of receipt of the fully and correctly completed Release Form. Limit of one (1) prize per person or household address.

6.NAME/IMAGE OF WINNERS: By entering, each winner consents to the use of his/her name, address (city and province) and/or photograph without further remuneration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor with respect to this Contest.

7.The Sponsor and the independent contest organization accept no responsibility for loss, damage or claims caused by or resulting from the Contest or acceptance of any prize.

8.The Sponsor and the independent contest organization will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, falsified, misdirected, delayed or destroyed entries and all such entries are void. In the event it is determined that an entrant has entered in a fashion not sanctioned by these Official Contest Rules & Regulations and/or has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these Official Contest Rules & Regulations, the entrant will be disqualified and all of the entries submitted by the entrant will be disqualified. The Sponsor and the independent contest organization do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing or typographical errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered are void. In the event it is determined that an entrant has entered or registered in a fashion not sanctioned by the Official Contest Rules & Regulations, the entrant will be disqualified and all of the entries submitted by the entrant will be disqualified.

9.The Sponsor reserves the right for any reason, to terminate or suspend this Contest or to amend the Official Contest Rules & Regulations at any time and in any way, without prior notice.

10.All entries (including recipes) become the permanent property of the Sponsor and none will be returned. The Sponsor reserves the right to publish the winning recipes (in whole or in part) or revise the recipe and then publish without further renumeration. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants. This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.

11.The Sponsor respects your right to privacy. We will only use the information you provide to conduct the Contest. By entering the Contest, each entrant consents to the Sponsor, the independent contest organization, their agents and/or representatives storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry only for the purpose of administering the Contest unless the entrant otherwise agrees.
